Equine Sports Massage Therapy

I ask that I treat a minimum of 3 horses if appointments are more than an hour as I do not charge a trip fee
Includes full history of the horse to be taken, conformation assessment, locomotion assessment, hands on assessment, treatment and aftercare advice.
Please allow around 1 hour for an Initial Assessment and treatment, although the treatment time is appropriate for each individual horse and may sometimes take longer.

What to Expect During Your Appointment

1. Full History Taking: Every treatment begins with a thorough understanding of your horse’s medical history. We take the time to listen to your concerns and gather relevant information about your horse’s past injuries, illnesses, training routine, and any other pertinent details. This information helps us tailor the treatment to your horse’s specific needs.

2. Conformation Assessment: The conformation of a horse plays a significant role in its overall health and performance. During this stage, we evaluate your horse’s physical structure, looking for any conformational abnormalities or imbalances that may contribute to discomfort, lameness, or performance issues.

3. Locomotion Assessment: Next, we observe your horse’s movement. Whether in-hand or under saddle, this assessment allows us to detect any irregularities in gait, stiffness, or signs of discomfort. By analyzing how your horse moves, we can identify the root causes of any issues and ensure that the treatment is focused and effective.

4. Hands-On Assessment: After the preliminary assessments, we perform a detailed hands-on examination. This involves palpation and manipulation of muscles, joints, and soft tissues to locate areas of tension, pain, or restriction. Our hands-on approach ensures that we can feel for any underlying issues that may not be immediately visible through observation alone.

5. Tailored Treatment: Based on the findings from the previous assessments, we create a personalized treatment plan for your horse. The treatment may include a variety of techniques such as massage, joint mobilization, stretching, or other therapeutic interventions. We work with your horse at a pace that is comfortable for them, and the treatment duration will vary depending on the individual needs of each horse.

6. Aftercare and Advice: After the treatment, we provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to ensure your horse’s continued recovery and well-being. This may include exercises, stretches, or recommendations for adjustments in your horse’s routine. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and tools to support your horse’s health between appointments.

Appointment Duration

While we generally allocate around one hour for the initial assessment and treatment, it’s important to note that each horse is unique. The length of the session may vary depending on the specific needs and responses of your horse during treatment. We prioritize quality care over rushing through a session, ensuring that your horse receives the attention it deserves.
